Final Words From Larissa
My husband and I were married in May of 2007 and our first baby girl was born in February 2009 in a hospital in Norfolk, NE. I had a good experience, a natural birth, with a midwife, but after that experience I knew birth could be even better! In July of 2010 I was 38 weeks pregnant with my second child and had just moved into a new home. That weekend I made the decision to have a homebirth final and two weeks (and a few days) later ...4 days after my "due date" I had a perfect, beautiful, healthy baby girl in my home. I had 3 wonderful doulas and it was a wonderful experience! I never doubted myself for a moment. I NEVER thought "what am I doing here?" or "I need to go to the hospital!"... I trusted that I was doing what my body was created to do, naturally, without any interventions. I want all women to know that feeling of believing in themselves and having a support system who believes in them too! THAT is the reason I became a doula and it is the most rewarding job I could ever do!
