How many years have you been providing labor support services?
I attended my first birth, besides my own, in 2008. I have had a passion for birth since my first Bradley class in 2005.
How many births have you attended as of June 2010?
2
Will you attend home labors/births as well as hospital labors/births? Please explain your comfort level...
One of the two births I have attended was a home birth. It was amazing!! Whatever the Mom wants, she gets J
What is the max number of births you feel comfortable handling each month?
2, but I am a sucker for a birth!

Training & Credentials
What are your current credentials & individual experiences with doula care & labor support?
I have three children; born in a hospital, natural and vaginal. I had a perfect birth experience with my first and my third (with help from a doula). With my second I fell into the pitocin “PIT” and I wish I wouldn’t have. Hind sight is always 20/20, but I did gain the first hand experience with a pitocin labor.
I have attended one hospital birth for a friend in Omaha. I have also attended a home birth for another friend. I also helped with some post-partum support after the home birth.
Do you have any current plans for additional training?
I am scheduled for the toLabor training in Oct 2010.
Do you provide breastfeeding support & what is your basic theory of breastfeeding?
I LOVE BREASTFEEDING!!! I hope that was loud enough J My basic theory is everyone should do it; for once it is a bandwagon that everyone would benefit from. My son had a dairy/soy/high-fructose corn syrup allergy (how would I know that….trust me long hours!!), so I have some experience with working through diet restrictions. It was the absolute best thing for me and my son. In the beginning it will feel like the hardest thing in the world, but a few months in…it is totally the lazy way out LOL!
Do you typically provide postpartum support to your clients?
I am really open to the needs of the mother. If there needs to be some cleaning, baking, cooking, or errands I am totally willing to help.
If yes to the previous question; for how long & what do you feel are your strong points in this area?
I had a really hard time nursing my first, which I believe started the spiral of post partum depression. Being a new mom can feel lonely and frustrating, but it really does get better. If I can help one mom out the way I was helped I would feel accomplished.
I have a passion for every woman/couple to have a birth experience they can be proud of. It is the most rewarding moment in a person’s life and it should be treated as such by the people around them.

Fees & Payment Plans
What is your typical fee schedule for attending births?
As of right now, the experience of attending a birth is MORE than enough payment.
Do you require a down payment?
Only a visit J
Are you willing to be on a call list for "free" services when low income families contact our website?
ABSOLUTELY,
How much do you charge for postpartum doula care?
This is something I would rather discuss as to how much and what will need to be done, but again experience is a real smooth talker.
Do you send a detailed bill to your couples & when is their payment due?
If there are things to itemize I am an accounting major, it would be fun for me J
Do you charge additional mileage when you have to travel outside of your hometown?
If it is considerably outside of Lincoln, just the cost of gas.
Do you charge "cost" for labor supplies used during a birth?
Yes, if that is a need.
Will you provide a sliding fee for lower income couples?
For now, experience is pretty inexpensive.
Are you open to trading or bartering for services
Sure, what are you thinking??
Miscellaneous Information
How many times do you typically meet with couples prior to attending their birth?
I would like to meet with them at least twice, but more would be awesome!
Do you provide a "whole house labor rehearsal" for your couples?
After witnessing this, I find it very necessary.
Do you guarantee backup services in case you are unable to attend due to illness or sudden conflicts?
If not, would you encourage your couple to find a 2nd choice doula for backup?
As of right now, I do not know many people in the doula community to say definitively yes. I would always encourage couples to meet other doulas. We are all so individual and this is a very special moment being shared. The right person should be there.
If it felt "right" to you & your client, would you ever consider working as a team with another beginning doula to help her gain experience?
I definitely agree two heads are better than one…except where delivery is concerned LOL!
Is it ok for other doulas to contact you to help secure their own reliable backup?
Sure
How do you honestly feel about attending a birth for a couple you have never met either as a last minute doula or backup doula?
I would be nervous, but as long as the couple is comfortable I will be too!
How do you describe yourself religiously?
I am a Christian. I do believe everyone has a right to their belief and I would be the last person to judge you for your choices.
How does your religion effect how you work with clients?
I find it a personal experience and unless they would like it to be known, I will keep it to myself.
Do you provide a doula contract for detailed expectations of your care to be signed by all parties?
Yes, I find it very important for everyone to understand the basics. However, life is not set in stone and either will I. As long as we are all in agreement things can be adjusted.
Have you ever worked with same sex couples?
No, but that doesn’t change my thought that everyone should have the best birth experience ever.
