Training & Credentials |
What are your current credentials & individual experiences with doula care & labor support? |
Prior to becoming a doula I was active with LLL for 5 years before moving to Texas. There, I started my own breastfeeding support group and worked as a breastfeeding peer counselor for WIC. After returning to Nebraska I again became active with LLL for about 2 years. I apprenticed with a home birth midwife for about two years then began my doula training through Cascade Christian Childbirth Association. I have attended around 20 births including my time as an apprentice. |
Do you have any current plans for additional training? |
I am always looking for new areas to expand my training and education. |
Do you provide breastfeeding support & what is your basic theory of breastfeeding? |
I do provide breastfeeding support and believe in feeding on demand. I also believe in attachment parenting and extended breastfeeding. I also feel with proper education and support, anyone can breastfeed. |
Do you typically provide postpartum support to your clients? |
I typically visit at least a couple of times after birth to answer any questions on infant care and breastfeeding. I have not yet provided postpartum support but I am willing to do so. |
If yes to the previous question; for how long & what do you feel are your strong points in this area? |
My strong point in providing postpartum care is breastfeeding support which I provide to every client as long as needed. I will also provide post partum care such as light housekeeping, education, and sibling care (if needed so mother can rest) for up to 6 weeks post partum. |
